Social Welfare Laboratory
The existence of this laboratory is intended to provide a means of developing students’ expertise and skills in the field of social welfare. These issues are related to social functioning of individuals, families / groups and communities.
Function and Purpose
Social Welfare Science Laboratory functions:
1. As a support unit in implementing the "Tri Dharma" of Higher Education
2. As a means of student skills and self-potential development in academic activities, such as discussion, analysis of social problems, research, training, and practicum.
3. As a source of information relating to social issues.
4. As a means to develop the spirit of social entrepreneurship among the students, through TOT Social Entrepreneurship
The Goal of Social Welfare Laboratory are:
1. Developing a professional attitude in the field of social welfare based on values and codes of social workers ethics.
2. Equipping skill in the field of social welfare especially in social interventions mastering for both micro and macro skill.
3. Fostering social entrepreneurship under the Islamic values in an effort to bridge between the worlds of education to the needs of the community.
Practicum Material:
As general purpose of education is producing an expert in their field along with the real work application, it also to be the purpose of social welfare department that is to produce a graduate with the competence and skill in the field of social welfare.
In the Department of Social Welfare, each student is required to take program of practicum courses I, II, and III that activities and its implementation can be described as follows:
Practicum I (Odd Semester in Semester V),
This laboratory is oriented on individual and group problem solving, so, the materiel of this practicum is directed to theory and analysis which is conducted individually or even group basis. The main subjects supported are Social Case Work and Social Group Work.
The purposes of this laboratory are:
· Students are able to establish good relations with the institutions or other parties as the implementation of Practicum I
· Students are able to develop a plan of activities (intervention) together for individuals or groups in developing systematic change.
· Students are able to prepare case records, case processing, and case study.
· Students are able to carry out the interventions either independently or as part of team work for an social institution or agency of welfare social
Practicum II (Even Semester at semester VI)
Practicum II is oriented on organizing and community development so that the material on practicum II is directed on the theory and analysis of social problems with the main subject that supports the Community Organization and Community Development (CO/CD)
The purposes of this practicum are:
· Students are able to identify community needs, understand the potency, problems, and external source systems that required.
Students are able either determine or develop appropriate forms of intervention based on shared understanding of community issues into the work program which is oriented on the priorities scale.
· Train the students to work in a team as the nature of the intervention of social workers in community.
· Students are able to perform the evaluation and termination of plan changes that have been done.
Practicum III (Odd Semester in semester VII)
Practicum III is a combination of practicum I and Practicum II so often called as INTEGRATED practicum.
Laboratory Facilities
To support laboratories work, Social Welfare Department had already prepared some facilities both hard ware and software. For hardware, it consists of classroom building, laboratory, and library. Meanwhile, for the software, it consists of video of social issues from various countries as study materials and problem analysis. Furthermore, it also provide by some documentations, thematic material of HIV/AIDS, promiscuity, and delinquency in Indonesia, as well as the other tool that support the activity on Practicum I, II, and III. Moreover, there are also some research reports both from the lecturer and student about social case.
