Laboratory and Study Center of Economic Faculty

 

1.  Computer Laboratory

The laboratory is intended for:

a.        Preparing competitive excellency graduates in the field of computer application especially in the field of economy and business.

b.       Helping those who study there graduate with skill in applicating computer program as it is necessary.

c.        Preparing alumni of Economic Faculty of UMM to be skilled in utilizing computer program in order to solve managerial problems in an organization.

d.       Preparing computer facilities to be available for other units.

In order to achieve the goals, the Computer Laboratory of the Economic Faculty runs three main functions, namely: regular computer practicum unit, computer practicum supporting unit for other units, optional units of computer training providers. As a regular computer practicum providers, the Computer Laboratory of the Economic Faculty offers MS Office program for all the students of UMM Economic Faculty who program Computer Application Subject.

MS Office program is chosen as a practicum program because the program is generally needed by all students, to support learning process at the university and after graduate from the Economic Faculty UMM and work without considering the study programs. The MS Office program used for practicum covers: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, and MS Acces.

Computer Practicum Supporting Unit for other Units is run by Computer Laboratory by providing computer facilities needed by Study Program Laboratories at the Faculty of Economy. Accounting Laboratory uses Computer Laboratory for MYOP practicum and Taxation. Meanwhile, Economy and Development Study Laboratory conducts ESDM practicum, Theory of Economy, Regional Economy, Statistics II, Investment Management, Econometrics, and Operational Bank.

The facilities in the Computer Laboratory of the Economic Faculty UMM is grouped based on the functions, namely practicum facilities, administration, and maintenance. The main practicum facilities are in the form of computers which are located in 3 air-conditioned rooms, namely Parcticum Room A, B, and C. The practicum rooms are located on the first floor of Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB) II of Campus III UMM. The maximum capacity of each room is 25 people with 29 computers. Practicum room A and B are equipped with LCD. To monitor practicum process and control assets, there would be CCTV.

Administrative facilities are located in the Computer Laboratory office on the 5th floor of GKB II, Campus III UMM. To support operational activities, there are two computers in the Computer Laboratory office as a main supporting tools. Besides, to support the job convenience and service quality, there are also meuble facilities. Maintenance facilities are located in one room near the practicum room on the first floor of GKB II, Campus III UMM. To support maintenance facilities, there are two computers as main supporting facilities and various other facilities used for practicum facilities maintenance.

 

2.  Indonesian Stock Exchange Corner

The goals of Indonesian Stock Exchange Corner of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang are: “Facilitating students and lecturers in getting research data in fast, cheap, and efficient access.” To achieve the goals, Indonesian Stock Exchange Corner of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang organizes training (Econometrics and Manual Book from Software), financial data provision, book borrowing, and reference on capital market, and transaction on share and other securities.

Data in the Indonesian Stock Exchange Corner of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang covers:

  1. National PDRB (sotfcopy and hardcopy):

1)     27 Provinces, period 1993-2004

2)     Kabupaten and cities of Indonesia, period 1993-2004

3)     Constant price for 27 Province, period 1993-2004

b.  Directory of National Banking (softcopy and hardcopy):

1)       All banks (private, foreign, mix, BUMN) in Indonesia, period 1999-2004

2)       All BPRs in Indonesia, period 1999-2004

3)       All BPDs in Indonesia, period 1999-2004

c. International Financial Statistic (softcopy issued by IMF): Economy Macro Data from all the IMF countries (120 countries), 1948-2005

d.  Finance Report (brief/complete) from all issuers of Bursa Efek Indonesia.

1)       330 companies (softcopy)

2)       Share price, dividend, listing date, LQ 45, JII, audit comments, etc.

3)       Issuers' prospects, mutual funds prospects

4)       Corporate action, newest issue from issuers, etc.

Students who needs data must meet the following requirements:

a. All the students of Indonesian Universities (by showing current student card).

b. Agreeing order fee and data discount counted.

c. Filling and signing ordering data  form.

d. Paying in advance of 50% from the total fee.

e. BEI Corner does not provide data in the form of softcopy to avoid data falsification, except complete financial report and particular consideration of the Chief of Pojok BEI-UMM.

For students who want to borrow books and other references in the BEI Corner should meet the following requirements:

a.  Registered as the students of the faculties at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang by showing current student card.

b.            Having Capital Market Club (CMC) card.

c. Filling book of borrowing and signing it.

d. Deadline of book borrowing is maximum 2 days. There will be a fine of Rp1.500,00 per day if student are late to return the book.

e. Taking care the books. If there are any cases of decays or loss, students must reimburse the cost of repair or substitute the books.

f.   The book provided to be borrowed are books of literature, journal, and bulletin. Meanwhile, the forbidden ones to be borrowed are financial raport books, prospectus, ICMD and books which contain other data.

For students who want to be participants of Pelatihan Pasar Modal (PPM) and other trainings organized by Pojok BEI should meet the following requirements:

a. Students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang and other universities in Malang from all faculties without any limitations on the semester.

b. Filling the registration form  and stating choice of training on capital market of Packet A, B, or C (information on packet specification can obtained in Pojok BEI-UMM)

c. Pojok BEI-UMM organizes economterics software training, analysis technical training, and economy discussion forum.

For students who are interested to be investor of capital market can make share transaction (sale) and other securities, by the following provisions:

a. All the Indonesian students by showing the current student card;

b. Filling,  agreeing, and signing provision on share sales;

c. The initial investment is minimal Rp1.500.000,00;

d. Pojok BEI acts as broker so that it does not accept other's money management (not an investment manager);

f.   Buying and selling on share or information related to the share pricedevelopment can be done through sms to 08885156969; and

g. Procedure of share sales are based on simple, fast, and one-table system as well as under the control of the Chief of Pojok BEI-UMM.

 

3.  Management Development Center

Management Development Center (PPM) is engaged in the development of science in the field of economy and business as well as community service. The institution organizes various training and development programs, and consultation in the field of economy and business both for internal (UMM students) and external parties (business people). In running its activities, PPM cooperate with Department of Industry and Trading, City and Kabupaten Government og Malang, as well as Chamber of Commerce and Industry of East Java.

In order to support the objectives of PPM, tehre are various facilities, namely:

e.       Entrepreneurship Module Work                 :  collaboration with LPM

g.       Work on CD of Entrepreneurship Training   :  collaboration with Haki

UMM students can join to follow various programs offered by PPM, both the routine and the incidental ones by meeting the determined requirements. The routine work program held by PPM covers:

d.       Entepreneurship Training     :  cooperation with LPM & Student Affairs

Economy Laboratory

1.  Management  Laboratory

The objectives of Management Laboratory is to help students of Management Study PRogram to understand business practices in the real world and how the decisions are made. To meet the goals, Management Laboratory organizes various regular and supporting practicums. Besides to the practicum, the laboratory also cooperates with various parties to meet the goals. 

Regular practicum held by the laboratory is in the form of core subject practicum of the Management Study Program whoch covers: General Management; Marketing Management and Consumer Attitudes; Management of Opertion I and II; Management of HUman REsource and Organizational Attitudes; and Financial Mangament I and II. Besides, the Managemnt Laboratory also organizes optional training in which its implementation is based on the students' needs, such as research method training, statistics analysis, etc.

To support practicum and training process effectivity, the Management Laboratory uses 2 air conditioned regular practicum rooms and. There are also LCD and speaker, one room for computation-based practicum and one room for office administration activities. In order to support the soothness of practicum process, there are modules, model tools, and data for each practicum. In the implementation of practicum, the participants are guided by the instructor helped by an assistant. 

 

2.  Accounting Laboratory

The laboratory is intended to provide understanding on the implementation of accounting concept in the practices of real business for students. To achieve the goal, tha laboratory organizes obligatory and optional practicums and education & training. Besides, the the Accounting Laboratory cooperates with various related parties such as public accountant office, companies, and local government. It is intended to improve practicum and education & training implementations quality

The practicum activities in the field of accounting cover: service accounting, trading, industry, computer, auditing, taxation, and accounting research methodology. The education and training are optional. It means that the activities are intended for students who are interested and who want to deepen the particular field. There are several trainings organized by Accounting Department, among others: 1. tax Licence, 2. Capital Market, and 3. Eksport-Import.

To support the practicum activities, there are two manual practicum rooms in the Accounting Laboratory equipped with AC, LCD, and comfortable furnitures. Basides, to support the adninistrative services, there is also one office room equippped with adewuated facilities. During the practicum, each student gets module and work book. For computer-based accounting practicum, the Accounting Laboratory is in cooperation with Computer Laboratory of the Faculty of Econoomy to provide computer units. Each practicum class will be guided by an instructor and an assisstant.

 

3.  Conventional Banking Laboratory

The objective of Conventional Banking Laboratory is to provide students with knowledge on conventional banking practice. It means how the decision making of asset management and obligation of banking are made so that they can produce profit. To achieve the goal, the laboratory oganizes manual and computation-based practicums. Basides, the laboratory also organizes job practices for students.

Various practicums held by the Conventional Accounting Laboratory, among others: Economy Theory, Statistics II, Econometrics, Investment Management, Account Officer, Operation Banking, Social Statistics, Energy and Human Resource, Population, and Regional Economy. Job practice held by the Conventional Accouting Laboratory is banking accounting work practice. The laboratory also opens Mini Bank Division to train students in practicing banking management.

In the practicum and other activities, the laboratory is supported with a number of facilities such as practicum room, conventional mini bank, complete library, and other supporting facilities. In implementing practicum, the Conventional Banking Laboratory involves otehr parties sich as bank. It is intended to improve practicum quality.

 

4.  Sharia Banking Laboratory

The laboratory is intended to provide students an understanding and skill on how running the practice of Sharia Banking Management. In order to achieve teh goal, the laboratory organizes regular and optional practicums especially to students of D3 of Finance Management and Banking. Besides, the laboratory also organizes internship program.

Practicum subjects in the laboratory, among others: Business Statistics, Mini Bank I (Conventional Bank), Mini Bank II (Sharia Bank), Computer I, Computer II, Cost Accounting, Introduction to Accounting, and Intermediate Financial Accounting. Besides, the laboratory also organizes job practice which covers: Banking Accounting, Financial Management ,and  feasibility Studies.

To support the implementation of practicum and job practice, there are many supporting facilities such as: practicum room, Sharia Mini Bank, complete laboratory, and other supporting facilities. In organizing practicum, the laboratory involves other parties such as Bank or Sharia Division. Is is intended to improve practicum and job practice.
